Is an eBay Store worth it?
A Basic Store runs about $7.95/month (billed annually) and shaves roughly 0.9% off your final value fee in most categories, plus free listings. The subscription pays for itself once the fee savings beat the monthly cost — that's around $880 in monthly sales ($7.95 ÷ 0.9%). Below that, stay on the standard plan; above it, the Store is essentially free money. Toggle the Store checkbox above to see your own number.

Frequently asked questions
How much does eBay take per sale in 2026?
For most categories, eBay charges a 13.6% final value fee plus a per-order fee ($0.30 for orders $10 or under, $0.40 above). The 13.6% applies to the full order total — including the shipping and sales tax the buyer pays, not just the item price. Some categories differ: athletic shoes over $150 are 8% with no per-order fee, trading cards 13.25%, jewelry 15%.
Does a Store subscription lower fees?
Yes. A Basic Store subscription (about $7.95/month billed annually) trims the final value fee by roughly 0.5–1% in most categories and gives you free listings. It pays off once your monthly sales clear roughly $800–1,000 — use the break-even note below the calculator.
Why is eBay charging fees on tax and shipping?
Since 2021 eBay calculates the final value fee on the entire order total, including buyer-paid shipping and sales tax. Pricing shipping into a "free shipping" listing does not avoid it — the fee follows the total the buyer pays.
What extra fees can push my rate higher?
International sales add a 1.65% cross-border fee. Sellers rated "Below Standard" pay a 6% surcharge on top of final value fees. Promoted Listings (optional ad boost) adds whatever ad rate you set. This calculator shows the base mandatory fee only.
