What you actually keep at each price (no shipping)
| Sale price | Total fees | Effective rate | You keep |

Notice the effective rate falls as price rises — the fixed $0.20 + $0.25 dominates cheap items. Below about $8, fees eat 15%+ of your sale.
How Etsy fees work in 2026
Etsy's fees look small individually but stack up: a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee, and 3% + $0.25 payment processing. Both percentage fees are charged on the item price plus shipping, so the effective rate on a typical sale lands around 10–12% once you include the fixed pieces.
The fixed $0.20 + $0.25 hurts most on low-priced items — a $5 sticker can lose 15%+ to fees. Compare Etsy against eBay and the flat-rate Mercari, or line up every platform with the comparison tool.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Etsy take per sale in 2026?
Etsy charges a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee, and a payment processing fee of 3% + $0.25. The 6.5% transaction fee applies to the item price plus shipping, gift wrap, and personalization. On a $30 item with $5 shipping, mandatory fees run about $3.78.
Does the 6.5% apply to shipping?
Yes. Etsy calculates the transaction fee on the total you charge the buyer — item price plus shipping and any add-ons. This is why pricing shipping into "free shipping" listings does not reduce the fee.
What about Etsy Ads and Offsite Ads?
Those are optional. Etsy Ads is a budget you set. Offsite Ads charges 12% or 15% only when a sale comes from an ad Etsy placed off-site — and it is mandatory once your shop passes $10,000 in annual sales. This calculator shows mandatory fees only.
Is the $0.20 listing fee charged again when it sells?
The $0.20 is charged when you list and again each time the listing auto-renews after a sale (listings are for a quantity, and selling one renews it). Budget $0.20 per item sold as a rule of thumb.
